Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright plan new granny flat in grounds of Essex mansion

MICHELLE Keegan and Mark Wright are building a one-bedroom ‘granny flat’ in their new Essex mega-mansion, The Sun can reveal.

The couple are currently building a huge five-bedroom home in Essex after demolishing a £1.3million farmhouse that previously stood in its place.

Their dream home, which they’ve created a dedicated Instagram account for, will feature a bar, gym, kids playroom, and outdoor swimming pool.

And now The Sun can exclusively reveal that the pair have applied to Epping Forest District Council with plans for a “one-bedroom annexe” and expressed their wishes to demolish an existing stable building.

In May last year, they withdrew plans to build external accommodation, which was specifically to care for his parents Mark Snr and Carol, despite their local parish council saying they had no objection.

It’s not known why they pulled the application.

In the application letter by MP Architects LLP, they wrote: “We attach our planning application for the removal of the existing stable building and construction of a 1-bedroom annex, in conjunction with the approved new house.

“The annex is for the use of our client’s parents, who need to be close to our clients for care.

“The annex provides one bedroom, bathroom, a TV room and an open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a feature window & doors to provide good views over the countryside.”

Elsewhere, Mark, 34, has been keeping fans updated on the progress of their dream home and last week shared a tour of the property to his Instagram story.

Mark and his wife Michelle dished out £1.3million on the mock-Tudor house which was previously on the site.

After demolishing the old property, they set about creating their brand new dream home on the plot.

Mark and Michelle have plans in place for a stunning landscaped garden and an outdoor pool within the grounds.

The house, meanwhile, will feature a huge makeup room for former Our Girl and Coronation Street star Michelle, which will join up with an even bigger dressing room on the first floor.

Each of the property’s five bedrooms will have their own en-suites, while three of them will also have dressing rooms.

Michelle and Mark’s master bedroom is set to feature a glass balcony so the couple can enjoy their extensive countryside views.

They recently made the decision to surround the property with fast-growing trees to keep out prying eyes.

The magnificent new rural home has a footpath that cuts through their land, giving a right of way to ramblers.

The couple had hoped to build a wall and install electric gates but were told they were not allowed to close off the footpath.

Instead, Mark and Michelle have employed a team of landscapers to plant scores of laurel and conifer trees that will provide a leafy barrier to people seeing into their new property.
